Update to Reminders on Luma
Posted on September 17, 2024
When you host an event on Luma, we want to make to make the logistics as easy as possible. That allows you to focus on what you do best — hosting a delightful event.
As part of that, we send guests reminders for each event. Reminders go out via email, SMS, and push notifications. For invited guests, we send reminders asking them to register. For registered guests, the reminders include a link to their ticket and, for online events, information to join the virtual event.
Previously we would let you edit reminders and add custom information to these events. And we would also let you send out custom event posts. This was confusing because you had two slightly different ways of doing the same thing. Additionally, guests who are registered for many events may turn off reminders or receive a ton of reminders every day.
Going forwards, if you’d like to include custom information sent to guests you can send (or schedule) an Event Blast from the Blasts tab. Event Blasts are shown on the event page so that even if a guest has turned off reminder notifications, they will be able to find your message on the event page.
We will still send automated reminder emails to guests but you will not be able to edit them. Our standard reminders go out 1 day and 1 hour before the event. But we will be changing this over time to give the guest more control over how and when they receive reminders. For example, we will start batching reminders so that guests with multiple events coming up will receive a daily summary rather than many reminders a day before.
