Language on Website and Apps

Web Browser

When you visit Luma on the web, we automatically detect your browser's language settings and display the site in that language if we have a translation available. This detection is very accurate because we read your browser settings directly.

For example, if your browser is set to Traditional Chinese (used in Hong Kong and Taiwan), you'll see Traditional Chinese on event pages. If it's set to Simplified Chinese, you'll see Simplified Chinese.

You can also manually set your language preference at your Luma Account Preferences.

iOS App

The iOS app automatically displays in your phone's system language if we support it.

To override the language for just the Luma app, go to iOS Settings → Luma → Preferred Language and choose your preferred language.

Language for Email Communications

Email language works differently from the website because we can't detect browser settings in emails:

  • For existing Luma users: We remember their language preference from previous use and send all emails (invites, reminders, updates) in that language.

  • For new recipients: If someone hasn't used Luma before, they'll receive emails in the language the host is using. For example, if you're using Luma in Spanish and invite new people, they'll receive Spanish invitations.

Once a recipient clicks through and visits Luma, their browser language will be detected and saved for future communications.
