Google Meet Integration
Luma's Google Meet integration makes hosting virtual events effortless. With just a few clicks, we'll automatically create Google Meet links for your online gatherings, ensuring your guests have a smooth joining experience.
Getting Started with Google Meet
Connect your Google account to Luma to unlock automatic Meet link generation. You can do this in two ways:
- During event creation — Select Google Meet as your location and follow the prompts
- From your settings — Visit lu.ma/settings to connect your account anytime
Once connected, creating virtual events becomes incredibly simple. When setting up a new event, select Google Meet as your location, and Luma will automatically generate a persistent meeting space that your guests can join at the scheduled time.
How It Works
When you choose Google Meet for your event:
- Luma creates a dedicated Google Meet space using your Google account
- The meeting link is automatically added to your event page
- Guests receive the join link in their confirmation and reminder emails
- The meeting space remains available for the duration of your event
Managing Your Virtual Events
Updating Meeting Links
Need to change your Google Meet link after creating an event? Simply paste the new Meet URL into your event's location field. Note that once an event is created, you'll need to manually provide any new meeting links rather than auto-generating them.
Host Controls
Your Google Meet spaces inherit all settings from your Google account, including:
- Host management controls
- Recording permissions
- Participant limits
- Security settings
To modify these settings, access them directly through your Google Meet or Google Workspace admin console.
Best Practices
- Test your setup — Join your Meet link before the event to ensure everything works smoothly
- Schedule thoughtfully — Virtual events can attract global audiences. While Luma automatically handles timezone display for guests, consider choosing times that work across different regions when planning international events
Platform Availability
Automatic Google Meet link generation is currently available through the Luma web interface. When using the iOS app, you'll need to manually add your Meet link.
Important Notes
- Google Meet integration is tied to your personal Luma account, not your calendar
- Each Luma user needs their own Google connection to create Meet links
- Meeting spaces created through Luma follow your Google Workspace policies and quotas
