Managing Events with Calendars

How calendars work and how to move events between them

Every event on Luma belongs to a calendar. When you create an event, it automatically goes to your Personal Calendar by default. Understanding how calendars work will help you organize your events and manage your Luma Plus subscription effectively.

Personal vs Team Calendars

There are two types of calendars on Luma:

Personal Calendar

  • You automatically get one when you sign up for Luma
  • All your events start here when you create them
  • Can't be deleted because it serves as your default fallback calendar
  • Only you can manage events on your Personal Calendar

Team Calendar

  • Created for organizations, companies, or groups
  • Multiple people can be added as admins to manage all events
  • Better branding options and customization for your organization
  • Can be set up with your organization's name and branding

Moving Events Between Calendars

You can transfer events between calendars, but there are specific rules about what's allowed:

  • ✅ Personal Calendar → Team Calendar
  • ✅ Team Calendar → Team Calendar
  • ❌ Team Calendar → Personal Calendar

The reason you can't transfer from Team Calendar to Personal Calendar is that Personal Calendars can only be managed by one person, while Team Calendars support multiple admins.

How to transfer: Go to Manage Event > Overview and find the transfer option in the Visibility & Discovery section at the bottom of the page.

What Can't Be Transferred

Luma Plus subscriptions and payments stay with their original calendar. You can't move these between calendars because each calendar's Plus subscription and payment setup is independent.

This means if you have Luma Plus on one calendar and transfer an event to another calendar, the event will lose Plus benefits unless the destination calendar also has Plus.

Accidentally Got Plus on Personal Calendar?

If you meant to get Luma Plus for your organization but applied it to your Personal Calendar, you can convert your Personal Calendar into a Team Calendar:

  1. Go to Calendar > Settings
  2. Click Display tab
  3. Go through "Set Up Your Calendar"
  4. Follow the prompts to convert your calendar

Your Plus subscription will stay active on the newly converted Team Calendar, and you can then add other team members as admins.

Quick Tips

  • Planning for an organization? Create a Team Calendar before buying Plus to avoid conversion later
  • Personal Calendars can't be deleted - they're your fallback for events and ensure you always have a place to host events
  • Team Calendars are better for organizations because they support more admins and better branding options
